Hey guys,

If your bike season has been anything like mine you are sitting on a heap of ruined rubber. I can’t seem to come to terms with throwing them into the landfill and so I am starting a bicycle tire recycling service called LifeAfterBikes. I am reaching out to this great community of get down shredders and then I will branch out to local bike shops. The problem with recycling is that it not free. I will be charging $2.00 per tire. Think of it as an environmental fee like when you get your oil changed. Not something anyone wants to pay, but necessary to keep our planet clean.

Of that $2.00, the proceeds will be used to support youth bike riding programs and trail building/maintenance. I will use some of the money to further build the recycling program and the rest will be used to transport the tires to where there is a company that gives tires an alternative end of life — or a LifeAfterBikes. They may become safer playground surfaces, athletic surfaces, construction materials, or rubberized additive in asphalt. Anyway, if you have some tires you want to recycle just drop them by a drop off wherever you see a location with the LifeAfterBikes Logo on it with $2.00 per tire and I will take care of the rest.
